Boston Globe 4/25/10: Wayland architect works to spread ‘time banking’ network west of Boston. Judy Bennett may be an architect by trade, but her talents run far beyond her resume’s bullet points. She can sew, organize closets, illustrate, and paint with watercolors. And on Wednesday night in Natick, the Wayland resident told about 20 people how she’s harnessed all of these talents, both mundane and highly skilled, to help others, and in return get stuff done that she’d otherwise have to pay for, like getting a bike fixed. Bennett, like more than 650 people in Greater Boston, practices "time banking", a 23-year-old phenomenon that proponents hope to expand in area communities in the coming months. At its most basic level, time banking is a way to get things done for free by doing other things for free.
