LandryTECH VISIONARY JOHN LANDRY TO SPEAK AT THE LIBRARY
A widely known speaker on technology and investment, John Landry will be at our library on Tuesday, February 2, at 7:30 p.m. His talk, “Bustin’ Through the Barriers to Innovation and Economic Growth,” will examine the myriad obstacles artificially suppressing continuing innovation and economic growth, including immigration policy and low representation of women in the upper echelons of the tech and investment sectors. Landry will offer his ideas on what should be done to remove those obstacles.

1000booksbeforekindergarten1000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN!
Start the New Year with an Early Literacy Challenge and join the “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program” at the Wayland Library. Beverly Mobilia, Coordinator of the Wayland Community Partnerships for Children and Families and Youth Services Librarian Pam McCuen will lead two storytimes at the library (for babies to 3 years old with caregivers) to launch the 1000 Books program at 10:30 a.m. on both Friday, January 29, and Friday, February 19. This program promotes reading to newborns, infants, and toddlers, and encourages parent/child bonding through reading aloud. The library will provide reading logs, incentive stickers, booklists, books, and encouragement. Research tells us that reading aloud to your young children gives them a huge boost when they start school. When children become familiar with many stories and enlarge their word bank, learning to read becomes much easier! Also, reading aloud to your child is fun and a great opportunity for parent/child bonding. For more on this nonprofit program, go to their webpage at www.1000booksbeforekindergarten.org

Please consider donating to help keep kids warm in PJs this winter.
