Wayland Town Crier 4/10/14: Operating budget passes Wayland Town Meeting. With a looming 10 percent tax hike, participants at the first session of annual Town Meeting last Thursday breezed through 79 of 80 line items to overwhelmingly pass a $74.43 million operating budget for fiscal 2015 by a vote of 381-87. In presenting the budget, Finance Committee Chairman Tom Greenaway described the 10 percent increase as a “catch-up” and promised that in the future the growth would average only 2 to 3 percent annually.
