Wayland town administrator candidate backs out

Wayland Town Crier 4/11/14: Wayland town administrator candidate backs out. Current and former selectmen huddled together before the start of the fourth and final night of Town Meeting as news leaked that town administrator candidate William H. Jones Jr. backed out of the town’s offer. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously on March 26 for consultant Municipal Resources Inc. to enter into contract negotiations with Jones, replacing Fred Turkington who was fired without cause by the selectmen in a 3-1 vote last August. Jones was one of the two finalists recommended by the Town Administrator Search Committee from a field of 41 applicants. The other finalist, James Duggan, chief administrative officer of Gloucester, had withdrawn.
