Expanded hospice options at Traditions of Wayland

Wayland Town Crier 12/10/10: Expanded hospice options at Traditions of Wayland. The expanded and renovated Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence at Traditions of Wayland, operated by Parmenter Community Health, opened earlier this month to provide critically needed care for the area’s terminally ill patients and their families. According to Parmenter CEO Cindy Mayher, the residence had to be enlarged from six to 10 beds because they could not accommodate the increasing number of requests. The demand, she said, was caused in part by growing nationwide acceptance of the hospice movement, which combines compassion, comfort, and social and spiritual support for people at the end of their lives, as well as the fact that insurance companies are now often covering the cost of care in such facilities.
