Nomination papers for Annual Town Election to be available mid-January

Annual Town Election – May 7, 2024 Nomination papers will be available from the Town Clerk’s Office beginning Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Please call ahead and we can have them ready for you.

Per MGL Chapter 53, Section 6 – 50 signatures of registered voters are required on the nomination papers. It is highly suggested at least 60 are obtained to ensure you have 50 signatures that are eligible to be certified

The following positions will be up for election:

Select Board 2 seats 3 year term
School Committee 2 seats 3 year term
Board of Health 2 seats 3 year term
Board of Assessors 2 seats 3 year term
Library Trustees 2 seats 3 year term
Planning Board 1 seat 5 year term
Planning Board Associate 1 seat 5 year term
Board of Public Works 2 seats 3 year term
Recreation Commission 2 seats 3 year term
Trust Fund Commission 1 seat 3 year term
Trust Fund commission (to fill a vacancy) 1 seat 2 year term
Housing Authority 1 seat 5 year term

Schedule:

  • Tuesday, March 19, 2024  Last day to submit nomination papers to the Board of Registrars – 5:00 PM – Town Clerk’s office
  • Thursday, April 4, 2024    Last day to withdraw nomination – 5:00 PM – Town Clerk’s office
  • Thursday, April 4, 2024   Ballot goes to the printer – 5:10 PM
  • Friday, April 26, 2024      Last day to register to vote for Annual Election up until 11:59 PM on line at https://www.sec.state.ma.us/ovr/
    The Town Clerk’s Office will be open from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM for anyone wishing to register in person
  • Tuesday, April 30, 2024    Last Day (business) to apply for vote by mail/absentee 5:00 PM (must be received by 5:00 PM in the Town Clerk’s Office – postmarks do not count).
