Beginner Drawing Intensive For Young Artists

Beginner Drawing Intensive for Young Artists – Arts Wayland

Arts Wayland is pleased to introduce a two-week summer beginner drawing intensive for 8-12 year olds. Mei-Ling Ellerman will teach her most popular 8-week course, “Learning to Draw for Life,” packed into two weeks. Mei-Ling has carefully designed her curriculum to teach children the fundamental principles of drawing, including contour drawing, tonal values, space, proportions, and use of color. Mei-Ling offers ample feedback on each student’s drawings, which rapidly strengthens their observation skills, and in turn improves their ability to draw accurately

Teen Beginner Drawing Intensive

Teen Beginner Drawing Intensive – Arts Wayland

Arts Wayland is pleased to introduce Mei-Ling Ellerman’s two-week summer drawing intensive for teens ages 13-16. In just two weeks, students will learn everything that she teaches in her popular 8-week course, “Learning to Draw for Life.” Mei-Ling has designed her curriculum to progressively teach and practice the fundamental principles of drawing, including contour drawing, tonal values, space, proportions, and use of color. Mei-Ling provides feedback on each student’s drawings, which rapidly strengthens their observation skills, and in turn improves their ability to draw accurately. Teen artists will come away with new confidence and an improved ability to correct their own drawings. These enhanced observation and drawing skills will benefit them in the future, and can be applied to different disciplines and forms of art.

Weave a Table Runner Workshop

Weave a Table Runner Workshop – Arts Wayland

Learn to master the art of hand weaving and weave a table runner to be taken home at the end of the class, just in time to set your Thanksgiving dinner table, or to gift a loved one for the holidays. No previous experience is necessary, as you will be guided by the teacher through the weaving, design and finishing process.  We will be weaving with repurposed cotton fabric strips and luxury yarns on rigid heddle looms.  Each student will be encouraged to see this way of weaving as a potential form of art and design which will be foremost in determining a unique table runner.Consider bringing your own fabrics to cut into strips and weave with. These can include a son’s flannel shirt, a husband’s neckties, patterned sheets which are no longer in service, etc.  The teacher will have many cotton fabric strips to choose from as well.
