Winds of Change: A Prized Juried Exhibit

Arts Wayland is proud to present our prized juried exhibit, “Winds of Change,” on display at the Wellesley Free Library Main Branch (530 Washington St, Wellesley) from October 3rd through October 29th.To invoke the “Winds of Change” theme, we invited all artists to submit works that speak to the theme of change and transformation. The results were exquisite! But see for yourself either in person or online.  There will be a reception celebrating the exhibit and the artists that is open to the public from 3-5 pm at the Wellesley Free Library on 10/15.

Youth Learn to Draw For Life at The First Parish in Wayland
Fridays from 4 to 5:30 starting on November 18th
Local drawing teacher, artist, and printmaker, Mei-Ling Ellerman, will offer her popular beginner drawing course for children ages 9-13 through ArtsWayland. The class size is limited to 6 students so that Mei-Ling can give ample attention and feedback to each student throughout each class. The course will start teaching the children the fundamental principles, techniques, skills, and confidence they need to draw for life.

Grab a ten minute/2 song slot by signing in on the chalkboard at the door. We’ve got a full PA, however we ask that singers bring their own microphones if possible. Our stage is large enough to hold a small band. Light percussion is welcome! The gallery has very comfortable seating, room for safe distancing if desired, great acoustics, and a wonderfully respectful listening audience!
The David Thorne Scott Trio at the First Parish in Wayland

The David Thorne Scott Trio is not your average jazz combo. The “horn” is David’s voice, which he accompanies with electric bass. Mark Shilansky plays piano and sings harmony vocals, while Eric Byers uses his guitar to orchestrate distinct moods for each piece.

Night Train – American Roots Music Series
Vokes Theater on Saturday, November 19th at 8 pm
On Saturday, November 19th at 8 pm at the Vokes Theater (97 Boston Post Rd, Wayland), catch Blue Train coasting along the railway powered by a solid bluegrass foundation. Opener will be Cabin Fever, a trio with rich vocal harmonies, performing original music and ‘acoustic pop’ tunes that spans decades and tastes.
