Blueberry Pickers wanted to support Lauren Dunne Astley Memorial Fund

Over the last thirteen years, when growing conditions were favorable, Malcolm Astley has sold his Lightning Bug Blues blueberries at the Wayland Farmers’ Market.

In the early years, his daughter Lauren picked and sold the blueberries with him at the Market, which contributed towards the eventual purchase of her own car.

Malcolm has continued to bring his blueberries to the market and all proceeds from the sales go to the Lauren Dunne Astley Memorial Fund, whose mission is to “promote dynamic educational programs, particularly in the areas of the development of healthy teen relationships, the arts, and community service.”

Last week Malcolm sold 28 pints of blueberries in twenty minutes! For the next two Markets (July 25 and August 1), we are hoping to have more blueberries available.

Would you like to join the group of volunteers that will be picking blueberries from 8:30am-12pm on Sunday, Monday and/or Tuesday (July 22-24)? It’s easy. It’s fun.

Please contact Malcolm if you would like to join in at malcolmastley@icloud.com.
