Standing with Our Neighbors, United Against Hate

A community show of support has been planned for this Sunday, December 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Islamic Center of Boston, Wayland, located at 126 Boston Post Road in Wayland.

Last week, the Islamic Center received a hate letter that was similar to ones received by other mosques across the country. The incident currently is being investigated by Wayland Police and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office.

Since the letter became public, many people in Wayland and surrounding towns have expressed a desire to come together in a wide show of support for the Islamic Center. Sunday’s event has been organized by a team of community leaders and in conversation with the Islamic Center.

Organizers ask that you please carpool. Please meet offsite (e.g. at the Wayland Town Center, 400 Boston Post Rd.) and proceed by carpool to Temple Shir Tikva, 141 Boston Post Rd. in Wayland. It’s a short walk to the mosque from the temple.

Join with your neighbors to stand together united against hate. Please share widely with your friends and neighbors.

The current list of speakers for the event on Sunday includes:

  • Rev. Dr. Stephanie May, Wayland Clergy Association
  • Dr. Faisal Khan, ICB-Wayland, Director of Religious Affairs
  • Chief Irving, Wayland Police Department
  • Mary Antes, Wayland Town Committee
  • Saadia Baloch, ICB Wayland
  • Dhruba Sen, Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), Metrowest
