Buckley’s sessions cover a range of skills, from basic concepts of musical notation to melody, rhythm, harmony, and healthy vocal techniques. Buckley says these include posture, breathing tone production, diction, and use of the head voice. Children are exposed to blues, jazz, folk, classical, Broadway show tunes and just about “anything from Mozart to the Muppets,” Buckley explains.

Little Local Vocals Children’s Chorus is currently enrolling for its after-school program, and is pleased to offer a second location this year. Led by Ms. Patrice Buckley, a former Wayland Public Schools general music teacher and graduate of Boston University’s Music Education program, Little Local Vocals is going to have sessions at both Loker School’s Theatre and the Strings Room at Claypit Hill School.

The chorus is for Grades One through Four and Session I includes 13 classes, two joint dress rehearsals, and a joint concert each session. There are two sessions each academic year.
Claypit Hill’s session begins on Tuesday, October 4, at 3 pm, and Loker’s begin on Wednesday October 5, at 2 pm.
Children from all three elementary schools (Happy Hollow) are welcome to sign up for either class day, but all must provide their own transportation.  The schedule allows for travel time between schools. For the past several years, Little Local Vocals has given Wayland’s students an opportunity to sing with children from all three elementary schools.
