New afterschool learning center opens in Wayland

Engaging Minds, an after-school learning center that offers a unique approach to traditional tutoring, announced it has opened a new location. In addition to its Newton headquarters, Engaging Minds will work with students in Wayland (at Temple Shir Tikva, 141 Boston Post Road) while the center searches for a permanent home.

At Engaging Minds, experienced instructors work with students in grades 2-12, guiding them to become independent and self-confident learners by strengthening their executive function skills. Executive function skills enable students to organize, plan, focus attention, remember instructions and juggle multiple tasks successfully. These skills also allow students to filter distractions, prioritize tasks, set and achieve goals and control impulses.

“Our Newton center opened in 2011 and there we’ve always seen a significant number of students from Wayland and its neighboring towns. When it came time to expand, there was no doubt that Wayland was the perfect location for our second Engaging Minds center,” said Dan Levine, CEO of Engaging Minds. “We are thrilled to join the Wayland community and look forward to working with students to help them strengthen executive function skills to help them become motivated, independent and confident learners.”
