Registration is open for the Wayland After-School Chinese program, 2016-17. Offered in Wayland since 2006, the program offers Chinese Language & Culture classes at all three elementary schools and is brought to the schools through Wayland School Community Programs, Global Languages.
The classes are for K-5 children whose primary language is English. Activities are designed to help students gain listening and speaking skills in Chinese through songs, rhymes and poems, role-playing, games, and holiday celebrations. Children learn about China’s geography, people, history, arts, and traditions. They practice calligraphy, cook, do crafts, and play games.
The fall schedule is: Monday, Happy Hollow; Tuesday, Loker; and Wednesday, Claypit Hill. Registration deadline is July 15, 2016.
