New Athletic Director hired for Wayland High School

The following was distributed via the High School’s newsletter:

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Heath Rollins to the position of Athletic Director for the Wayland Public Schools, beginning August 10. Mr. Rollins earned both his Bachelor of Science (Physical Education) and Master of Science (Athletic Administration) degrees from Springfield College. He brings years of experience in athletic administration in many educational settings, including an international school, a Division III college, a private school, and a Massachusetts regional public school. Most recently he served as Athletic Director of neighboring Dover-Sherborn High School for the last 10 years, helping to bring its athletic program to a high level of fulfillment and competition for its student athletes.

His references speak highly of Mr. Rollins’ ability to plan strategically, build consensus, and attend to both the little details and the big picture. They also note his relationships with coaches and student athletes and his calm, unflappable nature. Mostly, however, it is clear from Mr. Rollins’ own experience and from those who know him well that he embodies the belief that athletics plays a vital role in the development of positive values, skills, and relationships among our youth.

I would like to thank the parents, staff members, and student on the Selection Advisory Committee for their dedicated work in this process, as well as the coaches and student athletes who filled out surveys that helped inform interview questions and criteria. We are fortunate that Mr. Rollins will join us at this point in the life of Wayland Athletics as we move forward with our continued commitment to the best experience for our student athletes.

Please join me in welcoming him to Wayland.

Sincerely,
Allyson Mizoguchi
Principal
