Foundation for Metrowest Youth seeks Wayland teens for Youth in Philanthropy program

foundation for metrowestThe Foundation would like to offer Wayland teens the unique opportunity to develop as community leaders and philanthropic conveners through our highly valued Youth in Philanthropy program that has been running for the past 17 years.

During the program students will:

  • Learn the importance of the nonprofit sector
  • Discuss ways to create lasting impact in their community
  • Form a Board of Trustees and run for leadership positions
  • Learn how to fundraise
  • Visit local nonprofit organizations
  • Distribute grants to nonprofits of their choice at the close of the program during a special grant ceremony

Our next session begins in January with classes located in Sudbury.  High School students from area towns are encouraged and welcome to apply.

A participant said, “Previous to hearing about YIP, I had not been aware of any opportunities for high school students to have such an in-depth experience with nonprofits. YIP really helped me develop my understanding and appreciation for philanthropy, and has inspired me to constantly look for ways to become more involved in the community.”
