Wayland Town Crier 7/3/14: Hopefuls seek money for land along Sudbury River. The town of Framingham and the Sudbury Valley Trustees are two of the applicants hoping to tap into a $700,000 kitty the state has made available to buy land along the Sudbury River. Edmund Coletta, a spokesman for the state Department of Environmental Protection, said the agency opened bids for the money on Monday, and will announce the grant recipients picked by a state and federal review panel in late summer or early fall. On Tuesday he said MassDEP wouldn’t reveal how many proposals were received or who applied. Not every town was quick to jump at the state’s offer, however, including Wayland, which decided not to offer a bid, the town’s conservation administrator, Brian Monahan, said.
