Wayland residents to vote on ‘OPEB tax holiday’

Wayland Town Crier 3/20/14: Wayland residents to vote on ‘OPEB tax holiday’. Other Post-Employment Benefits, also known as OPEB, the plan by which Wayland provides retiree health benefits to town and school employees, is likely to be front and center again at annual Town Meeting starting on April 3, as voters decide whether or not to support a transfer of monies from seven fee-based programs to free cash. The move promises to give taxpayers an effective “OPEB tax holiday” for perhaps two years and a partial break for another eight.
