School Committee announces FY15 School Budget Timeline

The School Committee invites the community to participate in its budget development process for the 2014-15 school year.

I.        SUPERINTENDENT’S RECOMMENDED BUDGET

On Monday, December 16th, Dr. Stein, the Superintendent of the Wayland Public Schools, presented his recommended FY15 OPERATING BUDGET to the School Committee, as well as his recommendation regarding the ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RECONFIGURATION.

II.   SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S BUDGET WORK SESSIONS

Following this meeting, the School Committee will hold the following budget work sessions, as well as a public forum. 

Monday, January 6th

  • The School Committee will hold a PUBLIC FORUM for the community to ask questions and provide input on the FY15 operating and capital budgets, including the elementary school reconfiguration.
  • The Committee will hold its first budget work session to ask questions, debate priorities and potentially make changes to the operating budget proposal.
  • That same evening, the Committee will meet with the Finance Committee to review its FY15 capital requests
 
Thursday, January 9th; Monday, January 13th and Thursday, January 16th
  • The Committee will continue its BUDGET WORK SESSIONS for the operating budget at these meetings, if needed.

III.        SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S RECOMMENDED BUDGET

Tuesday, January 21st

  • The School Committee will present its recommended operating budget to the Finance Committee.

The School Committee encourages all community members to be a part of this process by attending these public meetings  or by contacting any of the Committee members with feedback.
