School Committee seeks representative for Permanent Municipal Building Committee

School Committee representative needed to temporarily serve on Wayland’s Permanent Municipal Building Committee:

The School Committee is looking for interested citizens to apply for a temporary position on the Permanent Municipal Building Committee. The Committee is comprised of five members however an additional two members (a School Committee member and member appointed by the School Committee), must serve on the Committee during the Wayland Middle School – Roof Repairs Project. The project is expected to be completed by September 4th, 2013.

Candidates must demonstrate professional or vocational expertise with preference given to citizens possessing experience in any one of the following areas: structural or civil engineering; project management; construction law; building design and construction; or design and installation of heating, ventilation and cooling systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

Duties and responsibilities may include the following, if appropriate:

  • work with architectural firm on project design issues including structural, building systems;
  • authorize and oversee the preparation of architectural drawings, development of building construction or renovation specifications, completion of professional services and administration of building project;
  • approve design and construction expenditures pursuant to project construction and change orders;
  • recommend to the School Committee, for its approval, contracts with architects, engineers, electronic consultant, building contractors, and others in the name of and on behalf of the School Department with respect to the design and construction of the project; and,
  • exercise such other powers as are necessary with respect to the construction of this school building project.

Many citizens submit a resume or bulleted summary of this background information with a brief letter of interest.
