Viva Mexican Grill fails Alcohol Compliance Check

The following was submitted by the Wayland Police Department:

On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, the Wayland Police Department conducted undercover alcohol compliance checks of local businesses/establishments that sell alcohol/liquor. Two youths, aged 18 and 19, were sent into establishments with instructions to attempt to purchase alcohol without showing any identification.

One of the twelve establishments checked, sold alcohol to the underage youths. Viva Mexican Grill y Tequileri, 15 East Plain Street failed the compliance checks and served the underage individuals alcohol. This establishment will be referred to the Board of Selectman for a Liquor Violation Hearing.

The Wayland Police Department regularly conducts compliance checks at local businesses in an effort to reduce the underage consumption of alcohol.

Wayland Patch 5/22/13: Wayland Eatery Fails 2nd Alcohol Compliance Check in Just Over 2 Years. Just over two years since its prior violation, Viva Mexican Grill and Tequileria has again failed an undercover alcohol compliance check. On Tuesday, May 21, Wayland Police conducted regular alcohol compliance checks at 12 Wayland establishments. Viva Mexican Grill was the only one that failed.
