Wayland Patch 4/16/13: Traffic Alert: Closures on Pelham Island Bridge This Week. he new, two-lane Pelham Island Road Bridge opened last December just in time for Santa to cross the Sudbury River on his annual ride through town. Contractors worked to open the bridge before the worst of the winter weather isolated residents of Pelham Island, and succeeded in doing just that. Still, there are some final housekeeping items that need to be completed, and those will lead to some closures of the bridge this week.
