Preview of the Board of Selectmen Meeting, Monday, February 4

The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday, February 4, 2013 in Wayland Town Building. After Chairman John Bladon reviews the meeting agenda for the viewing public and makes any announcements, Selectmen will recognize Wastewater Management District Commission director William PRendergast for many years of service. Before receiving public comment, the Board will execute documents related to last week’s bond sale. The Town received twelve bids for $4M bond issue for capital projects, including a refinancing of 10 year old debt. The low bid was 1.105% for the bonds. The refinancing will save taxpayers more than $230,000 in interest over ten years.

At 7:15 p.m., the Board will continue a public hearing on a request from NSTAR to locate a utility pole and guy wire on Stonebridge Road. The hearing is a routine matter, but required by state law. On January 22, residents from the nearby Oak Hill and Meadow View Road neighborhood used the occasion of the public hearing to press continued dissatisfaction with NSTAR’s mitigation efforts from the summer tree-clearing program along transmissions line that bisect the neighborhood.

Following the hearing, Selectmen will consider the consent calendar and review correspondence, listen to the report of the town administrator and offer general items of concern. Selectmen will discuss scheduling office hours for late February or early March. Due to the temporary power outage that impacted Town Building last Thursday, the Board’s agenda was modified to reflect the shift of the Finance Committee’s presentation of the draft FY2014 operating and capital budget to Wednesday, February 6 at 8:00 p.m. Selectmen will attend that presentation, but do not plan to conduct any business at that time.

The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room.
