Wayland Patch 9/6/12: Defense Paves the Way for Insanity Defense in Wayland Murder Case. Counsel for the Wayland man charged with murdering has ex-girlfriend last summer said in a status conference Sept. 6 that the defendant’s mental state could come into play when the case goes to trial. William Sullivan, defense attorney for Nathaniel Fujita, filed a Rule 14 motion notifying the prosecution that he could “rely on the defense of lack of criminal responsibility and/or diminished capacity” when Fujita goes to trial.
