Wayland Police make arrest in credit card theft

Wayland Patch 3/13/12: Suspect Allegedly Paid Court Fees with Stolen Debit Card. Wayland Police said a recently stolen debit card was used to pay outstanding court fees and make other purchases to the tune of nearly $1,200. On Monday, Wayland Police arrested 24-year-old Angel Lopez of 15A Highland Ave., Watertown, on multiple charges related to the stolen card. Det. Sgt. Jamie Berger said Lopez is from Wayland and has had several run-ins with police, including an arrest last October on an outstanding warrant.

Charges: Larceny over $250, Receiving stolen property under $250 and Larceny of a credit card.

On Thursday, March 8, 2012, a female came into the Wayland Police Department to report that someone had stolen her debit card and subsequently used it to take out over $1100.00 out of her account. An investigation was conducted and LOPEZ, Angel of Watertown was arrested and charged with the above offenses. Other jurisdictions were advised of this investigation and possible further charges may be taken in the near future. LOPEZ was arrested on March 12, 2012 at the Wayland Police Department and was held on $1000.00 bail.
