Wayland Town Crier 12/31/11: Wayland doctor goes to Washington to crusade for clean air . In 1990, the Clean Air Act was passed by Congress to protect the public from air pollution. Air quality standards are enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and reviewed every five years to ensure regulations are updated based on advancements in scientific research and knowledge.
Dr. David Neumeyer of Wayland, a pulmonary and critical care specialist at the Lahey Clinic since 1997 and the dean of admissions at Tufts University School of Medicine, took time away from his career and family to travel to Washington, D.C., twice in the last two months to advocate for higher Clean Air Act standards.
