Wayland Town Crier 9/5/11: E. coli levels down in all areas of Dudley Pond. The final set of sample results show E. coli levels down in all areas of Dudley Pond. Over the 12 weeks of testing we had two instances of E. coli being above the state limits at one of the four areas tested — Mansion Beach. These results suggest that:
- Dudley Pond is sensitive to additional nutrient loading.
- Improvements are needed in stormwater management and street runoff.
- Regulations should be considered for fertilizer use in the Dudley Pond watershed.
- Regulations should be considered for septic inspection, septic record keeping, and nutrient controls from septic systems.
- Sampling for E. coli should be continued in 2012.
