Rivers Symphony Orchestra holding auditions

Wayland Town Crier 8/30/11: Rivers Symphony Orchestra holding auditions. The Rivers Symphony Orchestra (RSO), a community orchestra sponsored by The Rivers School Conservatory, is holding auditions for violin, viola, bass, oboe, bassoon, trumpet and trombone. The orchestra is open to any member of the community who is at least high school age.
The orchestra is comprised of amateur and professional musicians ranging in age from 16 to 76.
Rehearsals will be held at The Rivers School Conservatory on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., starting Sept. 19.
Performance venues for the 2011-12 season will include two concerts at Jordan Hall in Boston. Highlights of the repertoire will be Respighi’s “Ancient Airs and Dances,” Brahms’ “Variations on a Theme of Haydn,” Ravel’s “Bolero,” Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet,” and Walter Ross’ “Concerto for Wind Quintet and String Orchestra,” which will feature the critically acclaimed wind quintet Vento Chiaro.
