Starting Thursday, Massachusetts residents who buy energy-efficient refrigerators or air conditioners to replace their old appliances may be eligible for rebates through the state's Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate program. Rebates of $150 for Energy Star refrigerators and $50 for air conditioners are offered on qualifying purchases. "Energy saving appliances cut long-term energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while stimulating our local economy with retail sales," said Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Richard Sullivan Jr. This year's program requires customers to buy before they apply and provides real-time information on how much funding is available.
