Residents as well as school and town officials reeled yesterday as they learned that the death of 18-year-old Lauren Astley would be blamed on her former boyfriend and classmate at Wayland High School. "This is a horrific and chilling turn of events that will deeply affect everyone in this community," said Superintendent Paul Stein, who was working his second day on the job yesterday. "This event may rock our sense of security and safety."
