More than 150 kids and adults took part in Sunday's "Jog for Jessie" at Claypit Hill Elementary School, joining the kids' Fun Run, the 5k race or taking part in games and entertainment. The event was held in honor of Jessie Aufman, 8, of Wayland, who has Sanfilippo Syndrome, a terminal genetic disease. Money pledged to runners will be donated to Ben’s Dream, a nonprofit that raises funds for Sanfilippo research. Cari Cornish, Jessie's mom, said Sunday that the family (including dad, Matt Aufman, and son, Dylan, 5) had set out to raise $6,000 through their "Jog for Jessie" event. By Saturday, that goal had been eclipsed, with more than $15,000 raised.
