Social Relationships in Childhood, May 4th 7:30-9

Social cruelty among kids is one of the most difficult things that adults have to confront in raising or educating children. The Weston Community Children’s Association (WCCA) and the Wayland Children and Parents Association (WCPA) invite you to attend our Spring Keynote Parenting Speaker event with Dr. Michael Thompson discussing “Best Friends, Worst Enemies: Addressing Friendship Development, Popularity and Social Cruelty in Childhood” on Wednesday, May 4th from 7:30-9pm at the Amy Potter Center, Weston Middle School. Dr Thompson will provide parents and educators with a guide on the complex social world of childhood and ways to lay a positive foundation for social development. He’ll explore the difference between popularity and friendship development and the impact childhood social relationships have on adult happiness. Parents will learn how to deal with cruelty and how to help your child navigate the social world without interfering. Michael Thompson, Ph.D. is a consultant, author and psychologist specializing in children and families. His speech last year was standing room only, so an RSVP to enrichment@waylandwcpa.org is highly recommended. Light refreshments will be served from 7-7:30pm.
