Meeting on Monday, March 7 for those interested in being a teller at Town Meeting

There will be a meeting at the Town Building on Monday March 7th at 7:00 p.m. for all who may be interested in serving as Tellers at the upcoming Annual Town Meeting. The Town Meeting is scheduled to begin on Thursday April 7th and continue on Sunday April 10th.

Classically the role of Tellers has been to undertake standing counted votes. However, with the advent of electronic voting that will be in place for this meeting, that role may go away. Nevertheless Tellers will be needed to perform other activities such as distributing and collecting ballots from those who will not be using the electronic handsets, checking handsets that appear to be malfunctioning, and participating in Teller Audits to provide a check on the electronics. In addition, in case the electronics should fail, Tellers will be called upon to take a standing counted vote just as we have done in the past.

Because there will be two rooms available at least for the first night of Town Meeting, enough Tellers will be needed to be available in both rooms. Thus while the workload may be less, in fact if all goes well there may be nothing to do; there is a need for a number of people.

All that is needed is a willingness to help out and staying for the end of the session.

All who are interested in serving in this capacity are invited to attend.
