Second Superintendent Finalist Spends His Day in Town

Wayland Patch 1/14/10: Second Superintendent Finalist Spends His Day in Town. Paul Stein, the second of three finalists for superintendent of Wayland Public Schools, spent Thursday touring the schools of the district before sitting down for a lengthy public interview with school committee members. Currently the deputy superintendent of Newton Public Schools, Stein met with teachers and staff, administrators, students and parents as he familiarized himself with Wayland’s schools and system. “What stands out to me is the pride that people have in this system,” Stein told school committee members at the end of the day. “It feels like an exciting place where kids are really doing the business of schooling. It’s pretty clear that Wayland is a place where there’s an emphasis on academic excellence.”
