Preview of January 18, 2011 Board of Selectmen Meeting

The Board of Selectmen will meet on Tuesday, January 18 in Town Building instead of Monday due to the observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.   
 
After receiving public comment, Selectmen will interview and consider for appointment citizens interested in serving as a member of town boards and committees.  David Watkins has applied for a vacant seat on the Economic Development Committee.  Following the interview, the Board will hold consider an application for a change in manager for the club liquor license held by Broomstones, Inc., the curling club on Rice Road.
 
About 7:50 p.m., Selectmen will recess and reconvene with the Finance Committee to participate in discussions on the capital projects plan for public facilities including the Public Safety Building, Town Building and potential DPW maintenance facility.  Later, the Selectmen and Town Administrator will review the proposed FY2012 operating budget for municipal departments under the jurisdiction of the Selectmen.
 
At approximately 9:00 p.m., the Selectmen will review all submitted articles for consideration for inclusion in the 2011 Annual Town Meeting Warrant and discuss important meetings that lead up to town meeting.
 
After considering the consent calendar and reviewing correspondence, the Board will hear the weekly report of the Town Administrator featuring a preview of agenda topics for the next several meetings, an update on the transfer station pilot program sharing facilities with Sudbury, and a discussion on the venues and expenses for town meeting.  The agenda concludes with Selectmen’s reports and concerns and a discussion of the Board’s response to the Open Meeting Law complaint filed by George Harris relative to the public forum held on December 7, 2010 on the future uses of the Loker Conservation and Recreation Area.
 
The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room.  A reminder that the next meeting of the Board of Selectmen will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011.
