Wayland Patch 1/13/10: Open Burning Season Begins Saturday, Permits Available Online. Fire Chief Robert Loomer hopes this year’s implementation of an online permit request and daily permission to burn program will make life easier for residents and dispatchers alike. “This online option will allow our residents to apply for and obtain a burning permit from anywhere and at any hour, eliminating the trip to the fire station,” Loomer said via e-mail interview. “Then, on days they wish to use the permit, they need only click on the site and fill in their permit number. If weather conditions allow, they will be all set, again eliminating the need to call the station.”
