Help out with local bird count

Wayland Town Crier 12/27/10: Help out with local bird count. The winter solstice is just a few days behind us at this point, which means the daylight hours are becoming – ever so imperceptibly – longer.

So, before you say “brrrrrr,” this should spur you like nothing else to get outdoors and engage in some brisk activity. Like bird watching.

Here’s some information on a couple of upcoming bird watching events in the area for the whole family, both on Sun., Jan. 2. Grab some hot chocolate and read on.

The first is the 51st annual Concord Christmas Bird Count (CCC), which covers a circle with a 7.5-mile radius encompassing an area of 177 square miles.

The center of the CCC circle, which includes all or part of 18 towns – including Wayland – is at the intersection of the boundaries of Acton, Concord, Maynard and Sudbury.
