Sudbury Residents to Use Wayland Transfer Station on Saturday, December 11 and Saturday, December 18

As the next step in assessing the feasibility of combining the two town’s transfer stations, the Board of Selectmen of Sudbury and the Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works of Wayland agreed to a trial combined operation of the Wayland/Sudbury Transfer Stations on Saturday, December 11th and Saturday, December 18th.  Sudbury residents will be using the Wayland Transfer Station on those two Saturdays.  The hours of operation will be 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Transfer station staff from both communities will be there to assist you, and the Wayland Police Department will be monitoring traffic conditions to be sure that any backup does not affect Route 20 traffic.

Sudbury residents will be admitted with their Transfer Station or Recycling Sticker on their vehicle, and should have their trash in the Sudbury PAYT yellow bags.  As Wayland has commingled recycling, Sudbury residents will not need to have their recycling sorted.

Wayland and Sudbury Selectmen hope that our residents will not incur delays or problems using the Wayland Transfer Station.  Saturdays are the busiest times at both Transfer Stations and we ask for your patience with our neighbors during this trial operation.  The Saturday test will provide information as to how one site can best accommodate the demand from two towns on a Saturday.  The lessons learned from this phase of the pilot program will guide our plans for the potential consolidation of operations beginning July 1, 2011.
