Wayland Student Press Network 12/3/10: Students and community raise money, counter-protest at Westboro Baptist protest (21 Photos). The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), a group based in Topeka, Kansas known for protesting military funerals and for their vocal anti-gay and anti-Islamic agenda is came to Wayland on Friday December 3 to protest at the Islamic Center of Boston from roughly 7:30-8:00 AM. Students and community members used the WBC protest to raise money for the Unity International AIDS Foundation, the Islamic Center of Boston, and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Youth Group Network of Massachusetts — groups and causes the WBC opposes.
