Wayland Pascual-Leone taps into American, Spanish soccer worlds

Boston Globe 6/3/10: Wayland Pascual-Leone taps into American, Spanish soccer worlds. Nico Pascual-Leone is the product of two worlds, one American, one Spanish. He is fluent in the languages, has attended schools in both the United States and Spain, and has absorbed both cultures. On the soccer pitch, the Wayland High junior is a hybrid. An attacking midfielder, the 5-foot-10 Pascual-Leone is quick enough to play the faster American game, yet he has the technical skill of a player who grew up playing pickup matches on tiny concrete courts in Spain. With the 16-year-old spearheading the attack, supplying a team-leading six goals, the Warriors got off to a blistering 5-1-1 start this fall, and last week were just two victories shy of matching last year’s win total.
