Crowds learn about sustainability and ask for a repeat of the same in locations all over the region this week.

On Saturday October 2nd, Environmental expert Jackson Madnick had well over 100 people attend his Wayland (MA) Solar open house tours from 10am to 4 pm to learn more about sustainability, saving money, energy and our earth. Participants learned about Practical Solar's "Heliostat", a sun tracking device that provides heat, light and energy in a multitude of different uses. Also a world premiere of a  New Green Roof, low weight system that can go on most homes existing roofs to save energy and keep the home cooler in summer and warmer in winter as well as help the roof last a lot longer and cool our earth with help from Apex solar and Karen Webber.  Solar tour folks learned about many materials and systems, including about the Pearl's Premium ultra Low Maintenance Lawn Seed, sold at Whole Foods Markets and on the internet at PearlsPremium.com. This is 12 inch deep root grass, that grows so slow, you only have to cut once a month, seldom needs water after it is established and never needs chemical fertilizer to be healthier for your family and animals.

That were about 30 other cool things and systems on the tour. The workshop also goes over tips for humans to live 20 years longer and dogs live 5 year longer. These pictures were from the first crowd that showed up just after 10 AM. We had crowds like this all day that stayed for about and hour each in a roving workshop learning about energy, water and health systems all over the house and outside along with Q&A.

We had quite a few people call or email from all over the region who could not come this past weekend and wanted to attend in the future, so we are planning to have a mega education and action week with four exciting repeat workshops in the next week all over the region on  "Tips to the Ultimate Green, Healthy and Money Saving Home and Ultra Low Maintenance lawn".  The four workshops are:

  • The open house next Sunday the tenth of October in Wayland is a little more extensive of a workshop given at 1PM. That date of Sunday is significant in that it is  10/10/10  being celebrated in a world wide sustainable work party, put on by the  350.org organization.
THIS IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO SEED YOUR LAWN!  It turns out that mid September to the end of October is the best time of year to start a lawn or over seed and repair your lawn in the North East. Down south, you have more time. Many lawns need repair after the last 18 months of record breaking weather damaged most new lawns. In the workshop, We will also talk about how to live longer, put a low weight green roof on your home or business and deal with weeds, clover and other problems.

These FREE events and workshops are given by environmental expert Jackson Madnick, whose work has been honored by two White Houses, the U.N. and Al gore among others. The workshops all come with delicious Starbuck's Coffee and Whole Foods Markets treats and deserts.  If you would like to attend any of these events, please RSVP so we can plan for treats and seating.  Walk ins are also welcome. On Sundays Free workshop on 10/10/10 at 1 pm you can be part of a world wide webinar on sustainability, green lawns and green roofs.
