Growing up in Wayland during the ’60s and ’70s, Michael Abend remembers that residents displayed a decided disinterest in patronizing town enterprises. "When we wanted to buy something, we went to the Natick Mall or Shoppers World," he says. That attitude has persisted, he believes and – as the new president of the Wayland Business Association – one of his goals is to change this mindset.
