FREE Admission for active duty military & families as part of the Blue Star Museums Program, through Labor Day

 All programs are free with admission unless otherwise noted.  Admission to The Discovery Museums is $10.50 for adults, $10.50 for children, $9.50 for seniors, and free for children under 1 and Members.  Please visit our website at www.discoverymuseums.org for additional information.

TRIKE TRACK
All Day (Friday until 8 PM) Children’s Discovery
Practice balance and coordination, learn about traffic safety signs, and have fun as you peddle your way through our trike track. Bring your own tricycle or use one from our collection. What adventures will you encounter on your journey?
 
Friday, July 16
Half-Price Friday Night!  Half-price admission starts at 4:30, both Museums open until 9:00pm.  Families are invited to pack a picnic and enjoy the campus at night.  The VeeBop ice cream truck will be here from 5:30-7:30pm.
FETCH! LAB – ALL WOUND UP!
Drop-in 6 PM to 8 PM Science Discovery
Rubber band powered races! Build a rubber band racer, wind it up, and let it go. Try this FETCH inspired activity and discover for yourself how much energy a wound up rubber band can store.

It’s play dough creations day! With just a few basic ingredients, you can mix up some dough and construct original art.

All Day Children’s Discovery
Conduct your own paleontology dig in our giant outdoor sandbox. Bring a dinosaur and join in the fun! We’ll provide the sand, tools, and fossils.

KITCHEN CHEMISTRY WITH BESSIE!
Drop-in 10 AM to 12 PM Children’s Discovery
Discover fun experiments using common ingredients found in your kitchen. Our beloved dinosaur mascot, Bessie, will make a special appearance at the beginning of the program to introduce the tools of a chemist and model their proper use. *Bessie is a costumed museum staff member. SMART Gals Programs are sponsored by The Ramsey McCluskey Family Foundation.

Special Program!  Part of the $10M Progressive Insurance's Automotive X PRIZE Competition
MEET THE TRIHY – A UNIQUE TRIPLE HYBRID VEHICLE!
Drop-in 11 AM to 2 PM Science Discovery
Be inspired to imagine ‘green’ cars that use alternative forms of energy and are fun! See the TriHy, a unique vehicle that gets 40 mpg on used cooking oil, biodiesel, vegetable oil, jet fuel, or home heating oil. A diesel engine charges batteries and batteries drive the car – just like trains, tugboats, and submarines.  Meet Max Hall, the engineer who designed and built this licensed triple hybrid vehicle. Also learn about Progressive Insurance's Automotive X PRIZE, an exciting challenge to develop a new generation of affordable and super fuel efficient cars!  *Outdoor program.

SUMMER TREE WALK 
6 PM Science Discovery
Trees provide refreshing summer shade!  Learn about these massive plants as you walk around the museum grounds with science teacher Frank Meehan. Make a mini collection of leaves, find ways to preserve them, and learn how to identify trees in your own backyard. Outdoor program, rain or shine. Note: The walk is not handicap accessible.
 
Saturday, July 24
BUILD IT!
Drop-in 10 AM to 12 PM Children’s Discovery
LEGO building for toddlers! Bring your imagination to build, stack, and sort using our enormous collection of DUPLOS. Construct your own architectural wonder or work together to build a museum-community sculpture.
 
Sunday, July 25
BUBBLE BONANZA
ALL DAY Children’s Discovery
Bubbles high, bubbles low, large ones, small ones, it’s so much fun to watch them grow! Use our special bubble wands and bubble solution to create extraordinary bubbles. How big can you make your bubble?
