Wayland Town Crier 4/21/10: Keep up with Skype technology at demonstration. Skype? Whatever is that? I first heard about this technology several years ago. Vaguely, I understand that it’s a software application that allows people to make free phone calls to other Skypers using a computer. And, if Web cams are added, the callers can actually see one another. Skype plus Web cams have been widely touted as a way for far-flung families to stay bonded, especially by keeping up with growing grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the like. The Wayland Council on Aging is sponsoring a Skype demonstration on Wednesday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. The COA promises that presenter Serge Kogan will demystify and simplify. The event is free and open to the public.
