Wayland Library Flooding Status

Press Release from the Wayland Library
April 12, 2010

As the result of recent flooding, the Wayland Public Library will be closed to the public for several months while extensive repairs are made. The lower level of the Library has sustained serious damage to walls, insulation, flooring, fixtures, and the elevator. The Library started flooding during the storm that started on March 12 and then completely flooded during the subsequent large rain storm on March 29-30. Library staff and volunteers were able to save the Children’s Room collection.

While the Library is closed, we will not be able to accept library materials at our book drops until further notice. Please return any Wayland Library materials to our neighboring libraries.  Those libraries have agreed to accept our materials and to waive all fines.  You may also request items on-line to be held for you there.  Your Minuteman Library card is welcome at 35 public and 7 academic libraries in the Boston area, including libraries in all towns adjacent to Wayland.  You are welcome to use any of these libraries.

During the repair period, we will continue to update the Library website at waylandlibrary.org about the progress of repairs and will also release information to the Town Crier, WaylandeNews, and other e-groups.

We regret this inconvenience to all of our users and look forward to a time in the near future when we can welcome you back to our beautiful, historic building.
