Pelham Island – There is an erroneous report in the Wayland Student Press network that Pelham Island residents were evacuated. No evacuations have taken place on Pelham Island. Residents have been asked to prepare for a possible voluntary evacuation should there be no means of transportation across the flooded areas of Pelham island Road. Currently, a Boston Duck Boat is being used for resident transport.

The town has contracted with Boston Duck Tours to supply a duck boat and operators beginning at 7am 3/31/2010.  The duck boat is scheduled to operate until 6:00pm and from 6am-6pm on Thursday and Friday.  A 5 ton truck will be used from 6pm-9pm to transport residents.  There will be no transportation available from 9pm-6am each day.  All transportation is for residents of Pelham Island only.  Residents are advised to be prepared to evacuate if these forms of transportation become unsafe.

Basement Flooding – Residents are advised to contact emergency services should water in their basement rise to the point where it may reach an electrical panel. Should this happen, electrical power needs to be cut off to the house to prevent the possibility of fire.

Sandbags – The town has a supply of sandbags available for residents. Contact 508-358-4721.
