Golden Tones Senior Chorus and MidLife Crisis Band are “Puttin’ On a Little Ritz,” Sunday, April 11, 2010

The Golden Tones Senior Chorus and the Midlife Crisis Band will blend their musical styles during an afternoon FUNraiser for the Golden Tones on Sunday, April 11, from 2-5 pm at the Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland.  The event will include Wayland’s most danceable tunes, live and silent auctions, a door prize, a raffle for a wonderful Bose Acoustic Wave Music System II, a cash bar, and a plethora of homemade refreshments.

The popular and personable Stephen Murray, of Wayland Middle School’s music faculty, will entertain as Master of Ceremonies and Auctioneer, offering bidders a way to “add a little Ritz to their lives” with vacation getaways, theater/dinner packages, jewelry, furs, and oriental rugs!  For more details on the event, raffle, sponsors, and auction items, visit www.goldentones.org.

The MidLife Crisis (MLC) band formed in 2002 and most of the original rockers are still with the outfit.  MLC plays oldies, classic rock, Motown, rhythm and blues, and new wave.  The members, all Wayland residents, Charlie D'Ambrosio, Steve Robb, James Winokur, Jamie Pierce, and Bob Lutz, were all involved in music earlier in life and shared the same aspirations: "We wished we were rock stars."

The band receives rave reviews for their performances at clubs, birthday and graduation parties, weddings, and at any occasion "where they want our music.”  They also donate their services to benefits such as "Puttin' On a Little Ritz.”  "It's nice to be able to raise money for non-profit groups who are doing good things," says Robb.  Learn more about the MidLife Crisis Band at www.midlifecrisisrocks.com.

The Golden Tones Senior Chorus has become well-known in the MetroWest area for its weekly performances at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, senior centers, and intergenerational and community events.  CNN chose the Golden Tones to exemplify how seniors can keep healthy by singing.  This segment of CNN’s AccentHealth program, broadcast to 17,000 medical facilities, can be seen at www.goldentones.org.

The Golden Tones, an audition-free chorus welcoming new members year-round, sings a variety of music from Broadway, the Great American Songbook, folk traditions, and other fun selections suggested by members and the director.  Their shows feature dancing, costumes, clowning, and of course, multi-part choral singing.  These senior singers are looking forward to "raising the roof" with the self-described "graying rockers" of the MidLife Crisis Band at the Ritz FUNraiser.
