Independent Living Options Taskforce (ILOT) of Wayland and Lincoln to present progress reports on April 14

The Independent Living Options Taskforce (ILOT) of Wayland and Lincoln will present progress reports from five recently established short-term subcommittees at a meeting to be held in the Large Hearing Room of the Wayland Town Building (41 Cochituate Road) on Tuesday, April 14 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. The purpose of ILOT is to create a local nonprofit organization, based on the model of Beacon Hill Village in Boston, that will provide services for older residents to allow them options for aging in place. The five subcommittees that will make presentations at the upcoming meeting are:

  • Similar Communities Investigation/Mission Statement Committee, which is to investigate what other communities such as Wayland and Lincoln have accomplished so far and to draw up a mission statement for ILOT.
  • Legal Organization Committee, which is responsible for selecting an attorney to file organizational and 501(c)3 paperwork and other related tasks.
  • Community Offerings Committee, which will ascertain what the community already has in place by way of services for elders.
  • Administrative Committee, which is to act as the inter-committee liaison, handle correspondence, and maintain files and committee assignments.
  • Public Relations Committee, which will handle publicity, marketing and communications and is responsible for raising initial seed money.

All members of the community are welcome to attend the meeting, and there will be time for public discussion. The meeting will be broadcast live by WayCAM, the town’s local access television station.
