Never big in size, economics, or population, Amsterdam was centered around high school football. That year brought a freshman by the name of Justice Smith to the high school, only fourteen at the time. No one knew just how influential this freshman would turn out to be.

Cassara named Hofstra’s Men’s Basketball Head Coach

Hofstra Athletics 5/5/10: Cassara named Hofstra's Men's Basketball Head Coach. Wayland resident Mo Cassara was named the new Hofstra University head men's basketball coach, it was announced today by Hofstra University President Stuart Rabinowitz and Director of Athletics Jack Hayes. He has agreed to a multi-year deal with the University.

Wayland resident completes Ironman Triathlon

Ironman Live 5/1/10:  Wayland resident David Ellision completed the Ford Ironman in St. George, Utah on Saturday, May 1 in 13:59:29. This triathlon consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.1 mile run. He completed the entire course in just under 14 hours, with times of 1:17 for the swim, 7:23 for the bike race, and 4:55 for the marathon.

MacDonald a Nominee for America East Women’s Lacrosse Fans’ Choice Player of the Year Honor

University of Vermont 4/22/10: MacDonald a Nominee for America East Women's Lacrosse Fans' Choice Player of the Year Honor. Junior Megan MacDonald (Wayland, Mass.) and sophomore Samantha Stern (Cherry Hills, N.J.) from the University of Vermont are two nominees for the America East Women's Lacrosse Fans' Choice Player of the Year Award. The conference office made the announcement on Thursday. Fans can vote for their favorite America East women's lacrosse player beginning April 22.
