Congratulations to WHS junior Alyssa Ao whose sculpture was juried into the prestigious UMASS Dartmouth Emerging Young Artist + Designers exhibition! Emerging Young Artists and Designers is a highly competitive online juried exhibition, which celebrates the exceptional artistic merit of New England’s high school students. EYAD 2024 received submissions from over 800 young artists, from which the juror, CVPA’s Associate Dean Ann Kim, selected 200 works for the exhibition. The result, available at www.umassd.edu/cvpa/explore/emerging-young-artists, is a marvelous online showcase that offers an inspiring glimpse into the unique perspectives of New England’s young talents.

“A chest cavity has been pressed into a neat cube and flayed open, exposing a stitched-together heart. The cardboard ribcage is lined with gruesome color, magazine print, scribbled text, and threads of gore. I’ve stripped bare the floor, ceiling, and each vulnerable wall of the cave, nothing withheld. “.
