Join Arts Wayland for a “Weave an Infinity Scarf Workshop” on a pre warped rigid heddle loom. The workshop is designed for beginners who may only want a one time experience, or experienced hand weavers who are interested in learning to use a very portable rigid heddle loom for self expression. No previous experience is required, and you’ll go home with a wearable finished infinity scarf at the end of the session. The finest luxury designer yarns in natural fibers will be provided in varying materials and thicknesses for a variety of colors and textures.

Berklee School of Music Jazz Series Continues With Mix Up Mix Up

MATT JENSON’s MIX UP MIX UP – Arts Wayland

Pianist/keyboardist, singer, composer, arranger Matt Jenson lights up the connection between roots-reggae and soul-jazz with his Mix Up Mix Up band. The group presents original compositions and creative re-workings of pop, jazz and reggae anthems by Bob Marley, Duke Ellington, Thelonius Monk, Marvin Gaye, George Gershwin, Chopin and more.  The pure joy communicated between band members combined with their love of and deep experience with these styles results in a unique stylistic mash-up that immediately delights audiences of all ages. Imagine the creative interplay between musicians along with soul-jazz improvisation embedded in the intoxicating riddims of Jamaican reggae in an acoustic/electric jazz setting! It is indeed a groundbreaking format, sophisticated and soulful, with both instrumental and vocal repertoire, that gives nourishment to the mind, body and soul. Nathan Sabanayagam – drums, Nate Edgar – bass, Van Martin – guitar and Matt Jenson – piano/vocals.

Weave A Tote Bag Workshop

Weave a Tote Bag Workshop – February 2024 – Arts Wayland

Learn to weave your own tote bag on a pre set rigid heddle loom using repurposed cotton strips of fabric, along with a wide selection of quality yarns. You will weave and create your own individual design which will be customized to your aesthetic. Once the fabric has been woven, Dahlia will assemble the tote bag at her studio (apply the handles and shape the bag), and ship it to you within a week. No previous experience is needed.

Call for Art For Arts Wayland Members

January-February 2024 Art Exhibit Submission – Arts Wayland

A new year is beginning which inspires us to think about our hopes and dreams for the future, the personal and societal changes we want to experience, and the goals we want to achieve. At the same time, we might be grappling with feelings of fear, sadness, or despair as we experience or witness aging, sickness, hatred, and injustice. We invite all Arts Wayland member artists to interpret this theme creatively and to submit 2D artwork for this exhibit. Express what you find fascinating, mysterious, inspiring, or foreboding about the upcoming new year. You can submit up to 5 entries; however, we may not be able to accept them all given the constraints of the exhibit space available to us. Open to all mediums and works with perimeters of 96” or less. Have fun creating! We can’t wait to see the work you submit!
